Story

Hello! My name is Corey Caporale, and I am a member of the Board of Directors at SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young. This is a very personal and very important issue for me, and I'd like to thank you upfront for getting involved.

In this time of social distancing and societal change, together we are looking to share and spread the love within our community and beyond. And we need your help!

For many years, I used to make an annual trek to fundraise for SAY from my home in Chicago to our former Camp SAY location in North Carolina, a week-long 720-mile journey! As my family grew I had to hang up my handlebars but due to the tremendous need this year, I'm getting back in the saddle.

On August 8th I am doing a family bike ride for SAY. I will ride 20 miles with my family to raise funding for SAY's life-changing programs. Please give 5 dollars, or 10 dollars, or 100 dollars a mile if you can!

I also invite everyone who can to join me with your family on the 8th to get moving and raise funds for SAY families Walk, run, bike, hike, or roll... whatever works! Safely socially distanced, of course!

All funds will go towards Camp SAY and bringing a virtual Camp SAY Across the USA to Chicago in the fall.

As a person who stutters, I know how hard it can be to grow up with one and what these kids are going through. I'm very inspired by the confidence growing within them after joining the SAY family and their success as they grow into adulthood. To continue these outcomes, we need your support!

When I was growing up, I never heard it was okay to stutter and made it a lot harder to overcome. This is why I ride and support this organization and these kids. At a young age these kids are learning that their voices are beautiful, confident, and most importantly they are not alone.

It means a lot to me, and it means even more to these kids. Thank you for making a difference in a child's life.

IF YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN ACTIVITY PAGE AND RAISE FUNDS FROM YOUR COMMUNITY, HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Click on the purple "Join the Team" button below then select the "Create your fundraising page" option. Then select the "describe your own event" option, select the activity you'll be doing, and give it a fun, personal name.

Follow the next few steps to complete your page, then select the "Personalize page" option to make it your own, and start sharing!

Use the Strava app to connect your rides/runs/walks/rolls directly to your page. Once you create your page, there will be an orange box with a button that says "connect with Strava." Click through to automatically connect with the Strava account link to the email address you used to start your page.

If you don't have Strava, it's free to download and use on your phone. There are several upgrades you can pay to unlock, but you don't need to use any of them to track your activity and share it with your page. Just click the little circle at the bottom of the app that says "record" and get moving! When you save the workout, it will automatically sync to your fundraising page.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We can do it together!
