Raising money for Lighthouse Club

Every working day in the UK two construction workers take their own life. We are the only charity providing emotional, physical and financial support to the construction community through our 24/7 Helpline.

Story

Following the success of last years fantastic 60km Isle of Wight fundraising trek, and despite the blisters, sore feet and aching legs ; an event which raised in excess of £10,000, it has been decided that for this years ‘Grand Event’, we will kayak / canoe the river Wye in order to raise much needed funds for our 2023 chosen charity, The Lighthouse Club.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families. Receiving no public funding they rely on the generosity of those within in the industry to help them to continue their vital work.

In 2022, the charity spent £3,322,739 on charitable services which included;

3,421 calls to 24/7 helpline

1,976 complex cases which required multiple interventions by their case workers

Leveraged £1,774,719 of financial support from external sources

Distributed 247,645 Helpline cards and 32,915 ‘Help inside the hard hat’ posters

In addition to delivering 237 courses, providing mental health training for 3,850 people

Taking place over the weekend of the 15th – 17th September 2023, the Borras team, will be looking to kayak along the picturesque River Wye, a river which flows from the moorlands of central Wales, southeastward through England to its Irish Sea mouth in the Severn Estuary.

PLEASE… dig deep and help to support our team as they raise money for this worthy cause, a charity who supports our construction industry colleagues and their families in their times of need.
