Over the course of lockdown I along with many others probably ate (and drank) a bit too much, so when restrictions started being lifted I decided to head for the hills and start walking. Pretty instantaneously I picked up a love that I had in my youth. After a few weeks a thought popped in my head about doing the West Highland Way with some friends for charity, a while later I dropped the thought with some friends and pretty quickly we had our wee group - The Cheesetown Ramblers - (Cheesetown being a local name for the village of Kirkliston where we have all lived at one point in our lives)!

We all wanted to raise money for cancer charities to help with the amazing work they do. Nearly all of us in the group have been effected by cancer in one way or another, whether that's close family or friends and loved ones. The charities chosen are The Beatson Cancer Charity & Macmillan Cancer Support. Hopefully us doing this little thing may help someone somewhere.

The West Highland Way is a long-distance route in Scotland. It is 96 miles long, running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The trail, which opened in 1980, was Scotland's first officially designated Long Distance Route, and is now designated by NatureScot as one of Scotland's Great Trails.
