Right now, a lot of charities found themselves under a tremendous amount of pressure due to the current situation with Covid-19. Their usual source of income from donations and charity shops will be affected by lockdowns and government restrictions. However, now more than ever charities will be been called upon for help.

Here at IT Desk (UK), we have decided we would like to do something to help the people that help others.

Our chosen charity is Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People.

Martin House provide care to children with life limiting illnesses and their families. They are a charity that is run solely on fundraisers and donations. This charity is particularly close to the heart of one member of our team. They, along with their little sister and family, have personally accessed the service of Martin House and have been on the receiving end of the amazing care they provide for the family as a whole. Sadly, the need for this care ended when the member of our team’s little sister lost her fight in life and gained her angel wings. The care provided before, during and after this time can only be described as second to none by people who really are the unsung heroes of the world.

So, our team of 11 are about to embark on what feels like an almighty challenge for a group of people who sit at a desk for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. On Monday the 18th of January we will be putting on our walking boots (or wellies if its still snowing) to collectively walk the equivalent miles of John 0 Groats to Lands End - 813 miles – we are challenging ourselves to complete this in just 14 days.

As a bunch of people who are not normally active this is going to be quite the challenge!!
