Event: Spinnaker Tower Abseil, on 25 April 2020
We raise money to support your local ambulance service.

Story

After it was cancelled back in April, these two bestfriends finally managed to complete their abseil of the spinnaker tower today 25/09/2020, raising valuable funds for South Central Ambulance Charity. They were incredibly brave, it was a heart stopping moment for the families when the girls left the ledge and started their descent, then again halfway down Taylor’s rope got stuck, then almost at the bottom her hair got tangled in the pulley but she hung on in there quite literally, taking in the sites until it was fixed, she even had time for a quick chat with Grace as she passed her on her way down, both girls made it to the bottom safe and sound. Well done girls we are all very proud of you 🥳🥳 They‘re now planning their next adventure so watch this space...........

It’s back on. Taylor and Grace will be abseiling the spinnaker tower on the 26th of September, due to COVID the original date in April was cancelled. They are raising money for South Central Ambulance Charity. Please read and share their page and donate if you can, every little helps.

These two best friends from Bramley who are pupils at The Hurst Community College will be abseiling the spinnaker tower in portsmouth, to help raise money for South Central Ambulance Charity. Both girls mums work in the care field, Taylors mum is also a Community Responder for SCAS providing emergency medical treatment on a voluntary basis to Bramley and the surrounding areas. The girls have already completed ’The Jump’ off of the tower and wanted to do the abseil. What better way to do this than to do it for charity and help raise money at the same time. All they have to do now is raise a minimum of £400 between them.

Community First Responders are volunteers who give their time freely to help care for people and save lives in their community. They are everyday members of the general public who are trained to deal with a wide range of potentially life threatening conditions until the arrival of an ambulance.

Very often the role they play is one of reassurance, for example in instances where someone has chest pains but in more extreme cases they can perform CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) including the use of a defibrillator. We are able to carry out a full set of observations providing vital information to the control room and crews to help provide the best possible service to our patients.

They provide support to the regular Ambulance Service by attending serious and life threatening 999 calls to provide the earliest possible intervention for patients in the first few minutes until the arrival of an Ambulance.

The ambulance service dispatcher is able to send them to a range of incidents; They are dispatched at the same time as the ambulance crews but because they are closer they often arrive before the ambulance. In cases of cardiac arrest it has been identified that the chance of a positive outcome reduces by approximately 10% for every minute that effective CPR and defibrillation are performed.

To provide CFRs with all the kit they need to carry out their role costs a lot of money, this money has to be fundraised for. Every little bit helps so please help us to raise £500 and support all Community Responders you never know when you may need one
