Story
Hello everyone,
As some of you know, the two of us Tracy and Holly will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2020, doing the 7 day Machame route.
We both love a challenge and know that this will really test us mentally and physically.
It’s also an excellent opportunity to raise money for two amazing Charities. Moving Mountains and World at Play both charities doing amazing work for children and young people across the world!
We hope to raise £750 for each of these charities, Moving Mountains is under Tracy’s name World at Play under Holly’s maybe pick a charity to donate to even better spilt your donation bewteen the two.
MM is an international charity working with disadvantaged children and communities in Kenya, Tanzania and Nepal. They fund early child development programmes, and educational support from primary to college. MM’s aim is long term holistic help for children working with the families and the community, and the relief of poverty.
Moving Mountains is close to Holly’s heart as a previous fundraiser and volunteer with them in Kenya 2004 running a camp for street kids. Holly got to see first hand the amazing worthwhile and sustainable work Moving Mountains do. Post climb the two of us look forward to volunteering in the town of Moshi with Moving Mountains as they build a new school.
World At Play believes that access to sport, and the freedom to play without fear, prejudice or intimidation is an integral part of every childhood.
The charity was set up 16 years ago with the aim of enriching the lives of disadvantaged adults and children in marginalised communities through sport and play.
Our volunteers are intensively trained and have delivered sport and developmental play sessions in refugee camps, foster homes, youth clubs, schools and care-centres in Kosovo, Bosnia, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Uganda.
We are a small charity which makes a huge impact. Our projects has long term and sustainable benefits for our volunteers, the children who take part, and the partner organisations we work .
Holly is lucky to be currently volunteering with World at Play in Uganda and is leading a team of 6 volunteers to run a play and sport programme in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement for 6weeks. Rwamwanja hosts around 78,000 refugees, mostly from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Thank you and wish us luck
Holly and Tracy xx
