Like many people, I probably took it for granted that cancer was something that happened to other families. That changed a few years ago when I sadly lost my uncle to pancreatic cancer.

Since then, various other family members and friends have faced their own cancer diagnoses and gone through treatment, hopefully coming out the other side. Seeing the impact cancer can have on people and those closest to them has made me realise just how important support is during what can be one of the most difficult times in someone's life.

That's why I've chosen to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. They provide invaluable help to people living with cancer, from the moment of diagnosis and throughout treatment, offering practical, emotional and financial support when it's needed most.

A cancer diagnosis affects so much more than just the person receiving it. It impacts families, friends and loved ones too, and having someone there to offer guidance, reassurance and support can make a huge difference.

I'm proud to be taking part in Accent's 25 for 25 fundraising initiative, which means Accent will match the money I raise, up to £1,000. This is a fantastic opportunity to make every donation go even further and help Macmillan continue the incredible work they do supporting people affected by cancer.
