Story
I (Adam), and two of my friends who I work with (Emily and Laura), are raising money for The Christie Charity in recognition of the extraordinary compassion and support they gave my father in the final hours of his life.
Although he was admitted to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in 2025, for less than 24 hours, our family witnessed what truly outstanding, person-centred care looks like. The nurses, healthcare assistants, doctors, and wider team demonstrated not only clinical excellence, but genuine empathy and humanity. Because they had the right resources and support around them, they were able to go beyond what was expected at such a critical and emotional time.
It was the care provided at The Christie that ensured my father was comfortable and that our family had a calm, dignified space to say goodbye.
It is this reason why we want to raise money for The Christie's, so that families can continue to be offered the excellent care I received when it was needed most.
Our training so far:
We have been training every week since December 2025 despite the rain, snow, thyroid and brain issues, constant leg, hip, foot, and new pains after every run, and are determined to get across the finish like (in hopefully one piece).
