Story
On 14 June 2025 Sarah and Alex will be competing in the Norfolk Superhero Challenge - a gruelling quadrathlon consisting of a 1 mile sea swim, 3 mile kayak, 45 mile bike and 9 mile run. It’s going to be tough, very very tough!
The competition takes anywhere between 4 and a half hours for the quickest team and 7 and a half hours for the slowest. We’re aiming for… about 7 and a half hours. But time is not important to us - just being able to complete such a massive challenge will be the real win!
We’ve put in hours and hours of training and have had more than a few injuries along the way - from torn hamstrings, trapped nerves, pulled muscles and DOMS galore. But we keep going and that will probably be our mantra on the day - just keep going.
We would be super grateful for any donation you can make, big or small, to help keep us motivated through the pain and the exhaustion.
The Superhero has raised over £1m for worthy Norfolk charities over the years. This year, the Norfolk Superhero Challenge is supporting Norfolk Community Foundation’s A Better Childhood mission to get Norfolk’s children active!
Why is this important?
In Norfolk, 1 in 5 children leave primary school obese, and 8% have a mental health need. Yet, local spending on youth services is just £6.50 per child annually—compared to £150 in inner-city Camden. The Norfolk Superhero Challenge aims to change that.
How will your support help?
The Norfolk Superhero Fund will, for example, enable us to subsidise or even fully fund club memberships and kit, which would have otherwise been unaffordable, as well as fund much needed coaching and equipment. Did you know that a third of children in the UK can’t swim and the number is growing. This is just one example of how we plan to help.
Together, we can create opportunities that inspire the young people in Norfolk who need it most to live healthier, more active lives.
