Team fundraising for "Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity"

Raising money for Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity

Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) was founded in 2004 by a mother whose two sons had been diagnosed with leukodystrophy. She recognised the severe lack of information and support available and wanted to make sure that no one had to face leukodystrophy alone.

Story

We have chosen to run our first ever marathon, for Lily, the 2 year old daughter of our colleague Emily. Heartbreakingly, Lily has recently been diagnosed with Leukodystrophy.

Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children.

Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.

Your donation will help "Alex TLC" continue to provide the best support possible to those affected.

The chosen event is the "Halstead & Essex Marathon", 26.2 miles, on Sunday 11th May.

We would love to have you with us on the day to support us to the finish line.

Thank you
