Walking for Alzheimer's and Goose Green

Raising money for Friends of Goose Green School

Jurassic Coast Challenge 2021 · 22 May 2021 to 23 May 2021 ·

FOGGS looks to support projects that improve the well-being and learning opportunities for the children of Goose Green.

Story

The original plan was to walk 173km across 3 challenges (21km Winter Walk, 52km Isle of Wight and 100km Jurassic Coast) but COVID19 had other ideas!

From 1st January - 20th March I had walked 295.76km in training and the Winter Walk event. I was averaging almost 100km a month.

With a loss of focus, and added restrictions, my walking stopped and consequently my mental health suffered. My mental health needs the exercise as much as the school needs the money! So.....

On 13th April I signed up to the Action Challenge Any way Easter 50km Challenge. Complete 50km, abiding by government guidelines, by 24th April.

Trying to find the time inbetween me and my husband working shifts, standing in supermarket queues to shop and looking after are two small children is going to be tough but I have a goal to work towards and I hope you will support me by sponsoring me.

I am hoping to not only completely the 50km on time but also to complete a combined total of 375km by the end of April.

There will be an updated distance to aim for come May but I'm still working on that plan!

Why Goose Green Primary School? I work in the Office at the school and want to raise money to go towards new library facility for the pupils.

Why Alzheimer's Society? Dementia is the only leading cause of death that we can’t cure, prevent or even slow down, showing the critical need to tackle the dementia crisis.

My best friend lost her dear Mum to it; My Nan has it; My Mum is terrified she will get it; I want to help raise money in the hope that we find a cure so my children never have to witness it.
