First they were girls who read, then they were girls who run and now they're girls who run for reading! Anastasiya and Maryana are excited to be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London this October with the amazing charity, Bookmark, which works with primary schools across the UK to improve child literacy (see below for more about Bookmark).

More than 1 in 4 children in England leave primary school unable to read well with disadvantaged children leaving primary school on average a year behind their peers. One in eight children aged 5-8 in the UK don’t own a book of their own at home.

Bookmark improves children’s literacy through 1-1 reading support and promoting a reading for pleasure culture in disadvantaged primary schools across the UK.
