Story
We‘re walking the South West Coast Path in September to raise money for two charities close to our hearts: ActionAid UK and Oceana.
ActionAid is an international charity that works primarily with women and girls living in poverty in rural and urban communities across Africa, Asia and Latin America, and also responds to emergency situations arising from disasters or conflict worldwide. ActionAid’s dedicated local staff are supporting women and girls as they claim their rights, prevent and respond to violence, and help lead their communities out of poverty.
Oceana is the largest international advocacy organization focused solely on ocean conservation. The oceans are vast, but they are not immune to human influence. We have already altered or destroyed marine ecosystems and driven million-year-old species to the brink of extinction. According to a study published in Science, less than 4 percent of the oceans remain unaffected by human activity. Oceana works on a number of strategic campaigns to stop ocean pollution, protect marine wildlife, promote responsible fishing, stop offshore drilling and ocean acidification, and more.
The South West Coast Path will be a real challenge - 6 weeks, 630 miles, god knows how many blisters and about four times the elevation of Everest. We‘ll be carrying our tents and camping every night, come rain or shine. Most people do the walk in 8 weeks, so we may not finish it in 6 weeks but we‘ll go as far as we physically can in that time!
Every donation will motivate us to keep walking, so thank you so so much for donating, every penny counts. We’re covering all costs of the trip ourselves so all of the money raised will go directly to our chosen charities ActionAid UK and Oceana.
Thank you!
