Story
On the 14th of June of this year, our dad had a stroke - completely without warning, life-altering and life as our family knew it changed in an instant. We saw firsthand just how devastating a stroke can be, not only for the person going through it, but for everyone around them. Recovery isn't quick and it isn't the same for anyone - it's a long, often gruelling road, different for every survivor and every family walking it alongside them.
We are so grateful to still have Dad here with us. To show that gratitude, my sister and I are taking on 62 miles in October 2026, in his honour - and he may even join us for parts of the challenge himself.
We're doing this to keep active (certainly a challenge for me these days!), but more importantly, to raise vital funds for stroke survivors and their families finding their way back to life.
Stroke Association is the UK's leading stroke support charity, supporting 88,000 stroke survivors and their families every year to find the strength and determination they need for the journey ahead.
Every pound raised helps fund that support. Thank you for reading our story and thank you in advance for anything you can give - it truly does make a difference
