Story

Did you know that 1 in 3 people will have a brain injury (caused by stroke, tumours, concussions, traumatic injury) at some point in their lives?

Brain injury can lead to problems in thinking, memory, attention, speech, mobility, energy levels, mood, anxiety and more.

But brain injury is hardly ever talked about, with huge amounts of stigma and shame attached to survivors, with negative stereotypes attached to them.

What's worse, people often don't have access to high-quality recovery services after leaving hospital. And that means it's even harder to go back to the person you were before brain injury.

Over the past year, Angela has heard countless stories of people that feel like they're "falling off a cliff" after leaving hospital. They don't have access to the services they need, and because it's never talked about many people don't understand what they're going through.

That's why we are fundraising for SameYou and walking/running 26 miles - the distance to Machu Picchu.

SameYou is a brain injury charity that are working to break the silence around brain injury and help give people the best possible chance of recovery after leaving hospital. Any donation would help and would be really appreciated. If you are interested in learning more, go to: https://www.sameyou.org

Thank you in advance for supporting me. I couldn't do it without kindness of friends and family like you.
