This year I have set myself a challenge to complete the Ride London 100 cycle ride. This is a 102 mile cycle ride starting in central London, going out into Essex and finishing back in central London. I have also set myself the challenge of trying to do this under 5 hours 30 mins (if the weather is kind and the wind blows in the right direction... lol). I've trained as hard as I can and really hope to beat this target. I have selected two charities to ride for that are close to my heart, and I and my family have definitely benefited from both. Firstly Angelman UK, as my son Cody (pictured above) has Angelman syndrome and secondly TVAP as they provide an excellent safe environment for all disabilities to play and explore whilst giving families and carers a well deserved break.

Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) is a charity that offers a unique range of adventurous, therapeutic and educational play activities in a safe, caring and stimulating environment, catering for both children and adults with all types of disability, however mild or profound. We offer opportunities and vital Respite breaks that support the families and carers as well as the special person they care for.

Angelman UK is a charity supporting individuals and the families of those with Angelman syndrome. It’s run entirely by parents and volunteers. Running a large charity while juggling with the caring demands of a seriously challenging person can be quite a handful, so they need all the help they can get. And that’s where you come in. Angelman UK receive no government funding so the help that they can provide is entirely dependent on the generosity of people like you, reading this now.

Your donation will not only go towards supporting families, but it will also help in raising awareness about the condition – among the public and Professionals – and in enabling research… so that even more people can be helped in the future. Now that really is something to smile about.
