Story

This year's Mast Cell Action (MCA) fundraiser is Move4Mast Cell. I and a bunch of generous friends will be walking a loop of the Thames to raise money for this fantastically worthwhile cause: see below.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is a little understood disease of the immune system that can cripple people affected. It often takes 5 years even to get a diagnosis and there are very few effective treatments

MCAS is a life-destroyer: it presents with malicious and miserable symptoms, including exhaustion, severe allergies, discomfort and pain. And in some cases can even lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis. It can change its presentation mysteriously and regularly evades effective medical diagnosis or treatment. In consequence it halts normal life in its tracks whilst leaving those affected in limbo. For more info see www.mastcellaction.org

Mast Cell Action is setting out to tackle the disease on multiple levels; providing support, raising awareness and funding quality research to improve outcomes and the quality of life for people affected. The charity is entirely dependent on donations like this to fund its operation.
