StreetDoctors trains young people affected by violence how to be lifesavers, including what to do if someone is bleeding or knocked out. Our movement of young healthcare volunteers empower 11-25 year olds across the UK to make more informed decisions & become StreetDoctors in their communities.

Story

In February 2020, Babacar Diagne was tragically murdered by strangers. He was only 15 years old and had recently moved from Sutton Coldfield to Coventry - he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Babacar was a friendly and kind boy with a bright future ahead of him, and StreetDoctors received a very kind donation from his friends, who fundraised £3,000 in his memory. This will be used to deliver at least 10 sessions to 150 young people in local schools.

The StreetDoctors Birmingham and Coventry teams are setting up the Babacar Diagne Memorial Fund to fund more grassroots training sessions going forward in our respective areas. After completing StreetDoctors training 93% of young people say they know what to do if someone is bleeding - we want to give more young people and potential bystanders these life-saving skills, and honour Babacar's memory.
