The Big Golf Race 2023
Campaign by PROSTATE CANCER UK (RCN 1005541 (England & Wales), SC039332 (Scotland))
There's something for everyone in The Big Golf Race. Choose from the Half Marathon (2 rounds, 36 holes, 13 miles in a day), the Marathon (4 rounds, 72 holes, 26 miles in a day) or even the Ultra Marathon (5.5 rounds, 100 holes, 35 miles in a day).

Story

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That’s thousands of dads, brothers, partners, grandads, mates, sons and uncles….and in our case colleagues. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

For those that have worked at or with Bennett Griffin LLP or if you work in Commercial Property in West Sussex, you have most likely heard of Jeremy Wootton. Jeremy joined the firm in May 2015, retiring in April 2021 and was a huge part of the commercial property department and its success.

Jeremy has been enjoying retirement (including many hours on the golf course!) since. Sadly, we have become recently aware that Jeremy has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is having ongoing treatment for this.

Given this news and the fact that Jeremy is a keen golfer, we thought what better way to support him and to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer than for us to enter a team into the Big Golf Race!

We scoured the firm for individuals who were in peak physical condition and competent at golf. Sadly, there were none that ticked both these boxes, so we have elected Josh Coleman and Hamit Akyol, basically because they both have their own clubs!

Both Josh and Hamit work within the commercial property department of which Jeremy was once part, and are keen to both take part in the challenge and raise as much money and awareness as possible!

They will be taking on the Marathon Big Golf Race (4 rounds, 72 holes, 26 miles in a day) at Slinfold Golf and Country Club on Weds 26th July. They are aiming to start at roughly 5.30am in order to be done before they lose the light at 8/9pm.

We would like to add a huge thank you to Slinfold Golf Course for their support in facilitating this challenge.

Your donation will help fund lifesaving research to find better tests to diagnose men sooner. Thank you for your support.
