For 51 years the Berkhamsted Committee for The Children's Society organised an annual fundraising walk through the bluebells each May. And then 2020 happened, and for the first year, our walk had to be cancelled due to the covid pandemic. Not only did we have to cancel our event, but fundraising up and down the country ceased overnight, leaving the charity with a massive financial deficit.

At the same time, children and young people were locked down, sometimes in violent or abusive households, and education became hugely challenging. They were not in regular contact with the professionals who usually spot the signs of abuse, neglect and mental health issues, resulting in many fewer young people receiving the professional help they so desperately need.

2021, and although we didn't feel comfortable staging a walk in May, we have organised an amazing 12 mile route close to Berkhamsted, away from the pandemic walking hot spot areas for you to enjoy, for a modified event on 19th September. To help to keep the event as cashless as possible, we would encourage you to open your page and join our fundraising team, and help us to raise funds to support the most vulnerable young people in our society, whose challenges have been magnified by the pandemic.
