Raising money for Hull & East Yorkshire Mind

Hull & East Yorkshire Mind aims to support people with mental health problems, their families and carers through the provision of services and the promotion of good practices in mental health. We are an independent local organisation, relying on donations and funding to continue delivering support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Elloughton Blackburn FC is a community based football club in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We cater for both boys’ and girls’ football teams, covering all age groups from u5s through to adult.

Over the past month one of our committee members (Craig Towle) has been keeping everyone involved with the club fit with a series of exercise challenges. This has benefited players, parents, coaches and committee members at a time when we all needed it. The ultimate aim of the club is to clock up enough miles to get around the world which is circa 25,000. The exercise must be in the form of a walk, run or cycle and Craig has capped limits on what individuals can do so it’s a real team effort.

It’s through our involvement with the above that Conleth and

I have decided to take on our own mini challenge by the way of doing a half marathon run from Elloughton to Beverley. Anyone who knows me will vouch that the only half marathon I’ve done came in the form of a Snickers, so this is quite something to take on. It’s probably more of a big deal as we plan to do it on the 27th June 2020.

Conleth and I have also decided that we’d really like to raise a few quid for our local mental health charity – Hull & East Yorkshire MIND

Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I think Mental Health has affected us all in one way or another, whether it be as individuals or via our family, friends or colleagues. Mental Health has never been so prominent and that’s why it’s important that support networks such as Mind exist.

We appreciate these are extremely challenging times and the

current pandemic is having an effect on people’s livelihoods but if there is anyway you could see fit to donate a few pounds it would be hugely appreciated.

Every little helps as they say….

Thank you in advance.
