Story
We are raising money for St Michael's Hospice by taking part in their Moonlight and Memories Walk, in memory of our wonderful mum and nan, Irene.
Everyone who knew Irene, knew what an amazing, strong, positive, powerful, supportive, and loving person she was. Even those who only met her briefly still remember how she made them feel. She truly lit up any room she stepped into, and our lives will be lived honouring this amazing woman in every way we can.
She spent her last days at the hospice. It was where she always said she would be comfortable to go. Being at the hospice gave her the peace she needed as she lived her last week on Earth. She went peacefully and in power, exactly on her terms.
The hole left in our hearts will never be filled, but we will do everything to make her proud, and we will always be indebted to St Michael's Hospice for the care, compassion, and support they gave to her, and the whole family in this difficult time.
About St Michael's Hospice:
St Michael's Hospice supports and enables the community of Hastings and Rother to live well with dying, death and loss.
By identifying what matters most to patients and families, what’s making life difficult for them, including worries and concerns. We then create a care and support plan that can be adapted when things change.
Our services are provided via in-patient beds and at home and we also offer Wellbeing support, both out-patient and virtual. Expert bereavement support is available for anyone struggling to come to terms with the death of a loved one.
St Michael’s Hospice is heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals, companies, groups and trusts. The NHS provide one third of our total income as grants. Did you know it costs over £14,400 a day to provide our Hospice services?
