Story
Andrew and Jonny are taking on the Chester Marathon on 11 October 2026 to raise money in support of their younger brother, Christopher, through his ‘Your Fund’ with Aspire.
While travelling in Thailand, Christopher sustained a complete T4 spinal cord injury following a tragic accident. After emergency surgery, he spent his first month in Thailand receiving treatment. This was an incredibly traumatic experience, made even more challenging by having to navigate an unfamiliar healthcare system, cultural differences, and language barriers before his family could travel to be with him.
Christopher is back in the UK receiving specialist rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, home to the National Spinal Injuries Centre, where he is learning to adapt to life with a complete T4 spinal cord injury. Although the road ahead is long, he continues to face each day with courage and determination as he works towards achieving as much independence as possible.
The funds raised will help provide specialist equipment, rehabilitation support, home adaptations, and other essential services that will maximise Christopher’s independence and improve his quality of life as he moves forward.
All donations will be managed by Aspire, a national spinal cord injury charity, through Christopher’s ‘Your Fund’. Aspire will claim any eligible Gift Aid on Christopher’s behalf, helping every donation go even further. A small percentage of the fund is retained by Aspire to enable the charity to continue providing its vital support to Christopher and others living with spinal cord injuries.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference to Christopher’s journey and means the world to Andrew, Jonny, Christopher, and their family.
