Story
BoysThatRun is proudly partnering with Grassroots Suicide Prevention for the Brighton Half Marathon 2025.
For those of you that know, 'BoysThatRun' began with 5 housemates in their second year at uni that all resonated with feeling unmotivated and unhappy. This was likely brought on by a time spent isolated over lock down, where sport was not running and almost all socialising went hand in hand with sipping warm lager.
We traded pints for early morning runs and very soon after took a liking to the natural high running gives you.
BoysThatRun is now a social running group that pairs running with mindfulness practices to offer Brightonians weekly reminders that taking care of their mind and body should be above all else.
The work Grassroots are doing directly links with the message of BTR and supporting them directly supports us in tackling the suicide epidemic head on and raising funds that will have a huge impact.
We have 30 runners contributing towards this fundraiser and all proceeds go directly to Grassroots to further their work in the field of suicide prevention, training and bereavement.
Suicide is the biggest killer of our age range and continues to take place daily. Help support us in our efforts to keep up the conversation while taking part in a really impressive feat. We are so proud of all of our runners taking part and cant wait to share the tarmac with such inspirational people.
If you would like to join us we run every Thursday rain or shine at 7pm by the pelicano on the Level. If you would like to follow to see our progress @boysthatrun on instagram and if you would like to support please consider donating or sharing!
Sun, Rain or Shine on March 2nd we RUN.
Here are some words from grassroots:
When someone has thoughts of suicide, connecting with others can make all the difference. But reaching out can feel impossible. So many people go through this pain alone.
That’s why preventing suicide means working together. Together, we can fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. Together, we can learn to recognise and support those at risk, and connect them with a network of lifesaving services. Together, we can prevent suicide.
Grassroots works to make sure nobody has to go through thoughts of suicide alone.
