Story
I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London in October 2026 alongside my boyfriend, to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
1 in 3 people in the UK know someone affected by a brain tumour, and for me, that person is my mum, Frankie-Jo.
In 2023, she was diagnosed with a rare, low-grade brain tumour after suffering a tonic-clonic seizure at home. Initially, surgery wasn’t recommended due to the tumour’s difficult position. However, as she continues to live with drug-resistant epilepsy, which hugely affects her quality of life, despite the risks, surgery is now thought to be the better option. She is currently going through extensive testing and a surgical work-up, which is why ongoing research into brain tumours and their treatment is so vital.
My mum is one of the strongest and bravest people I know, and I feel incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to run for her and support such an important cause. If you have the pleasure of knowing my mum, you’ll know just how kind, supportive and loving she is to everyone around her.
The Brain Tumour Charity has been an amazing source of support for my mum throughout her journey, particularly during some of the more uncertain times. Seeing first-hand the importance of both support and research for people affected by brain tumours makes raising money for Brain Tumour Research even more meaningful to us.
Brain Tumour Research is the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, to help fund their vital research.
Thank you so much for your support 💛
