Story
Mums, Jane and Ruth will be taking on the 10K Great Scottish Run, while Amelie, James and Matthew will be putting their hearts and little legs into the Glasgow Mini Great Scottish Run!
We’re all running for a cause incredibly close to our hearts to support our friend, Emma, and her inspiring new charity, The Brave Positive Strong Foundation.
Just over two years ago, Emma’s now 12 year old daughter Darcie, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive bone cancer, osteosarcoma. Just six days after finishing gruelling chemotherapy and surgery to remove an initial tumour in her leg, Darcie was diagnosed with another tumour in her knee, which required similar treatment. The family were recently told that devastatingly the cancer has returned and Darcie’s treatment continues at the Royal Hospital for Children, in Glasgow.
Despite everything they have been through, Darcie and her family have remained focussed on living their family mantra “Brave, Positive, Strong”, giving back and supporting others who are going through the unthinkable.
Their own cancer journey, and a firm belief that no child or family should face cancer alone, has inspired The Brave, Positive, Strong Foundation, a children’s cancer charity to support children and their families. Further information can be found here https://bravepositivestrong.org/.
We’ve seen first hand the courage, strength and love behind this charity and we are proud to stand beside our friends to help make a difference to people who need it most.
Every mile we run will be for The Brave Positive Strong Foundation and everything it represents, finding courage when life feels frightening, staying positive through the hardest moments and discovering strength you never knew you had.
We would be so grateful for any support you can give, whether that’s a donation, a share or simply cheering us on. Knowing our wonderful friends and family are behind us will make every step, big and small, that little bit easier.
Seven runners, two races, one very special reason.
