Raising money for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity and Cancer Research UK

Story

*Standby For A Horrifically Calorific Epic Charity Event*

Former Royal Marines Commando Warrant Officer Jonathan Worthey of WortheyFITT and serving Royal Marines Commando Major Olly Osborne are embarking on an epic voyage across a tsunami of concept2’s, to promote awareness and support for Cancer Research UK and The Royal Marines Charity. The power of ‘GIVING’.

The intrepid duo are going to put their physical strength endurance and mental resilience against a huge test totaling 24,000 calories, non-stop! Yes, you read 24,000 calories total! This is the same as about 4kg of peanut butter or over 50 Big Macs! Although both Olly and Jonathan would sooner eat 4kg of peanut butter.

The challenge will consist of 12,000 calories each, performed in 1,000 calorie intervals on three different Concept2 machines. Each will perform their 12,000 calories on a Concept2 rowing machine, ski erg and bike erg.  These machines are some of the best all-round fitness machines you can buy, requiring a significant amount of effort to sustain the pace required for this challenge; estimated to be under 18 hours to complete (with a few breaks for chamois cream……).

Please keep them motivated in person, with supplies of high calorie and tasty foods or a donation to the chosen charities; the Royal Marines Charity and Cancer Research UK.

The challenge will take place at The Crown Hotel, Bawtry, Doncaster on the 31st October, for the main event.  John and Olly will have to start on Friday night so that they finish on Saturday evening!  This is going to take them back to being in Royal Marines training without a doubt!  Do you think they’ll make it within the 18 hour time cap?!

Come and see Jonathan and Olly in ‘ACTION’ at The Crown Hotel, Bawtry between 9am and 6pm on Saturday 31 October. Whilst you’re watching, take part in a 30 calorie Concept2 rowing challenge (for all physical abilities). We have a selection of amazing prizes donated from local businesses for the fastest female and male times of the day. To enter the challenge, you pay £10.00 with all proceeds split between our chosen charities.
