To mark the tenth anniversary of my dad's passing later this year, I am honoured to be running the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon for Action Kidney Cancer, who provide support to patients and families while also conducting vital research to improve treatment options available to those with kidney cancer.

After I think the first winning gamble in my life, I secured a ballot place in the 2026 TCS London Marathon, just four weeks before the Edinburgh Marathon. However, just as I began my marathon training in December, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following her surgery and now as she begins further treatment, our family have become more aware and grateful for the fantastic services Ayrshire Cancer Support provide to cancer patients and their families.

Now, I want to take the opportunity to make this challenge of running my first two marathons together in a month, and also fundraise for Ayrshire Cancer Support as well as Action Kidney Cancer. Ayrshire Cancer Support provide vital on-the-ground support for cancer patients and their families right from diagnosis, for as long as support is needed.

Please, if you are able, split any donations between two very worthwhile charities who work tirelessly to support cancer patients and their families; improving prognosis and treatment offerings; and providing comfort through the difficult times during and after diagnosis.

While training for the two marathons, I'll also be competing at HYROX Glasgow and have several other fitness competitions booked for the remainder of the year to keep me busy!
