Story

About Us

On the 5th of October, Beth, Ryan, Joe, Holly, Asia and Glyn will be taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of our beloved friend Amy Penn. This has become much the tradition and it will be the third year we embark on the Cardiff roads.

Amy was not quite 22 years-old when she tragically passed away in June 2021. Born with a congenital heart disease, Amy faced many treatments and visits to the hospital. Amy's own experiences and her compassion and desire to help others led to Daring to Dream being one of her chosen charities to fundraise for before her passing. It is in her memory, and with the knowledge of the great work of Daring to Dream to better the experiences of all young adults in the hospital that we pledge a charitable plea from you today.

We are determined to celebrate Amy's life and honour her commitment to fundraising.

About Daring to Dream

In Wales, 1.2 million of us live with at least one longstanding illness.

The extensive clinical care we receive mostly addresses our physical needs.

But the emotional turmoil & impact that accompanies illness is very significant and is not usually addressed.

Illness brings a whirlwind of emotions that can be overwhelming, making it very difficult to enjoy life or live it well & with joy.

Daring to Dream’s mission is to support the emotional (not mental) health of adults in Wales with physical illness.

We make spaces to talk.
