Raising money for Crawley Open House

For over 30 years, Crawley Open House has supported people experiencing homelessness locally. Every night, 65 women and men (and pets!) have a safe place to stay while we help them move towards permanent homes. As a charity, events like Run Gatwick and the Big Sleepout fund this vital work.

Story

Carnegie Group partners with Crawley Open House to tackle homelessness and social exclusion

At Carnegie Group, we believe construction is about more than bricks and mortar — it’s about building stronger communities. That’s why we’re proud to be supporting Crawley Open House, an organisation providing vital accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness, unemployment, loneliness, discrimination, and other forms of social exclusion.

Together, we’re launching an exciting initiative called "Building Homes One Cup at a Time" — a campaign that brings people together over something as simple and as comforting as a cup of coffee (or builders' tea!).

A mobile coffee van with a mission

Over the coming months, we want to raise money for a new mobile coffee van. Once we reach our target, we intend that the van will then visit high-traffic areas across Crawley and the South East, serving coffee with purpose. For every cup sold, the profits will go directly to support Crawley Open House and its life-changing work in the community.

But this campaign is about more than raising funds — it’s also about creating opportunities. As part of its skills programme, Crawley Open House is offering training to become baristas, helping people gain valuable experience, confidence, and employment. It is our ambition that these trained baristas will then be the friendly faces serving coffee from the van — earning a fair wage and contributing to something meaningful.
