Story
This October, my mum and I are taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK—a cause deeply personal to both of us.
Around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, my grandma—my mum’s mum—was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Since then, we’ve witnessed first-hand how devastating this disease can be. Watching someone you love slowly change, lose parts of who they are, and become increasingly dependent is heart-breaking. It’s not just the person with Alzheimer’s who suffers—it’s incredibly hard for the families and loved ones too.
That’s why we’re lacing up our running shoes and training hard: to raise awareness and much-needed funding for research that could one day prevent other families from going through the same thing.
We’ve chosen to support Alzheimer’s Research UK because they’re working to find better treatments—and one day, hopefully a cure. Knowing there are scientists out there fighting for families like ours gives us hope. Every donation—no matter how small—feels like a step closer to a future where other families won’t have to face what ours has.
Please support us if you can. Whether it’s a donation, sharing our page, or just cheering us on—it all makes a difference.
Let’s run for hope. Let’s run for change. Let’s run for Grandma. 💜
Thank you so much for your support,
Niamh & Carol
