Story
We’re running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 12th for Prostate Cancer UK — and we’d love your support.
This is personal for us. We lost our dad to prostate cancer far too young. This September marks 20 years without him. It’s a heartbreak that never really leaves, and one that’s recently touched other members of our family too 💔. It means so much to raise money and awareness for a disease that affects 1 in 8 men — and we all want to be part of changing that. Please read on…
This is also a deeply personal journey for Carole. After spending over six months caring full-time for our mum through a sudden terminal illness, we sadly lost her in February 2024. Just two days before the funeral, Carole suffered a heart attack. It was a devastating time — physically and emotionally — but she’s spent the last year fighting her way back, step by step. Starting with gentle walks, she’s worked her way back to fitness, with Chris by her side every step of the way (his unofficial title: Carole’s Carer). And Dave — our motivator-in-chief — was the first to say: “Let’s do something big. Let’s do this together.”
So here we are:
• Carole, determined to complete her first half marathon after a heart attack (second ever half)!
• Chris, running his first-ever half marathon to honour Prostate Cancer UK and keep his patient going strong
• Dave, running for his dad, for the cause, and to make sure we all get over that finish line!
If you’re able to sponsor us — whether it’s pennies or pounds — we’d be incredibly grateful. Every single donation makes a difference.
Prostate Cancer UK has made amazing progress in the 20 years since we lost Dad, helping more men get diagnosed early and treated in time. That’s only possible because of supporters like you.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you — truly — if you’re able to give.
Carole, Chris & Dave x
In loving memory of Alpert & Jackie ❤️
