Story
On 24-26 September 2026 our team (Gareth Miller, Ed Gould, Andy Browett and Tim Clark) is cycling 575 miles from Arras to Stuttgart to raise money for Sophie's Legacy - and we'd be hugely grateful for your support.
Why Sophie's Legacy
Sophie Fairall was ten years old when she died of rhabdomyosarcoma in September 2021. Before she died, she wrote a bucket list — not of things she wanted for herself, but of things she wanted changed for the children and families coming after her: better hospital food, play specialists available seven days a week, meals for parents sleeping on wards beside their sick children, and better training so doctors spot childhood cancer sooner.
Her mum Charlotte founded Sophie's Legacy in 2022 to make that list happen. The charity now supports families across 12 hospitals and 40 wards on the south coast - snack and toiletry boxes in parent rooms, weekly food trolleys, transport costs, emergency clothing, birthdays celebrated on the ward - while campaigning nationally for the changes Sophie asked for. They secured Parliament's first ever debate on childhood cancer in 2022.
The challenge
My team of four rides as a relay across three days, swapping riders as we go:
Day 1 - Arras (France) to Arlon (Luxembourg): 214 miles through the Ardennes
Day 2 - Arlon to Mainz (Germany): 177 miles over the Hunsrück mountains
Day 3 - Mainz to Stuttgart via Heidelberg: 170 miles
No support car doing the hard part for us - we manage our own strategy, our own pacing and our own suffering. If it goes to plan we roll into Stuttgart on the Saturday, which is the only thought getting me up the second climb of day two.
Where your money goes
100% of what you give goes to charity - the entry fee, accommodation and travel are paid for by us, not out of donations. Every pound you sponsor me goes to Sophie's Legacy and the families they support.
The ask
£10 gets me over a hill. £25 gets me through an afternoon in the Ardennes. Whatever you can spare goes straight to a parent sitting on a hospital ward who hasn't eaten today.
