Raising money for Africa on the Ball

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2025 · 14 September 2025 ·

We use football to promote positive change: health messages, education, community development, gender equality. We give young people – boys and girls – the chance to play football in a structured way, as part of a team. And as part of that team, we help them to learn new things and give something back to their community through outreach programmes.

Story

We are the Central Staggies, a team of like-minded Ross County fans taking on the ultimate walking challenge: the full 21 miles of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on Sunday, 14 September.

We’re walking in support of Africa On The Ball, a charity that uses the universal language of football to create lasting positive change in disadvantaged communities in Zambia. Our focus is on raising money for AOTB's first-ever clubhouse, which will become a permanent home for the community - a hub for educational programs and a safe space for its teams.

This walk feels especially poignant, coming so soon after the passing of AOTB's long-time patron (and former Ross County assistant manager), Jimmy Bone. With every step we take, we hope to honour his passion and commitment to the charity.

You can follow our training and progress on the day on Twitter/X: @centralstaggies.

Mark's commitment is particularly impressive, with him adding an extra mile a week to his training walks in the 20 weeks running up to the Kiltwalk. His employer Barclays will even match what he raises up to £1k, making your donation go even further.

Thank you for your support, every donation brings us closer to making this incredible project a reality.
