Raptör - The ride for the Insurance Industry! The popular multi-day ride returns in 2025 brought to you by Ki, with partnership from Brit and Lloyd’s.

Story

A dedicated group of Chaucer cyclists has undertaken the challenge of riding nearly 300 miles from Kent (UK) to Roubaix (France) over four days in support of Action Medical Research.

The enthusiastic team comprises Kelan Hunt, Jamie Newton, Geoff Wilkinson, Matt Carragher, and Jallani Qureshi, who will be rigorously training in the coming months to ensure peak fitness for the start on July 9th. This event will undoubtedly be physically demanding, necessitating grit, determination, and teamwork to ensure the entire team successfully crosses the finish line at the iconic Roubaix velodrome, one of cycling's oldest and most prestigious circuits.

The first day of the route will take the riders from Lingfield to Dover. On the second day, they will start with a ferry crossing to Dunkirk and then proceed on a 60-mile journey to Ypres (Belgium). Day three involves more than 80 miles to Ghent, featuring some demanding cobbled streets. The final day will lead towards Roubaix and require riders to tackle the renowned cobbled climbs of Muur de Geraardsbergen and Oude Kwaremont.

We kindly request your support for the team by making a donation to Action Medical Research. Your contributions directly aid in saving and transforming children's lives through medical research, including the development of treatments, vaccinations, and cures. Furthermore, Chaucer will match your donations, so please give generously to help the team achieve their overall target of £12,000.

Action Medical Research (AMR) is the leading UK-wide charity committed to saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years, AMR has pioneered methods to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of individuals. AMR research has contributed to defeating polio in the UK, developing ultrasound technology, combating meningitis, and preventing stillbirths. However, there is an urgent need to develop new treatments and cures for sick babies and children, and your support is crucial to achieving this goal.
