Great North Run 2025
Campaign by PROSTATE CANCER UK (RCN 1005541 and in Scotland (SC039332))
Prostate Cancer UK's legendary team of runners taking on one of the worlds most iconic half marathons. The Great North Run isn’t just a race – it’s a celebration of community, energy, and endurance.

Story

So today marks 15 years since our world fell apart.

At 2am on Friday the 14th May 2010 we received calls from Dad to say that Mum had woken and asked for a cup of tea. When he came back upstairs he found she had passed away having suffered a heart attack without warning.

Dad was due to go to the doctors for tests himself the following Monday however was so heartbroken he didn’t attend. By the time they did diagnose his prostate cancer unfortunately it was too late to save him. He died 7 and a half months after Mum. Officially from prostate cancer complications however a broken heart definitely played its part.

They were definitely a team and to recognise the 15 year milestone we have decided to complete a number of challenges between us to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

1 in every 8 men will develop Prostate Cancer and this figure can double in some ethnic groups. Any money raised will be used to increase awareness and fund lifesaving research.

Chris will be completing his first solo hyrox, Fran will be completing the Royal Parks half marathon however together we will complete the Great North Run which finishes a mile from Mum’s childhood home.

So if you can spare anything at all, we’d really appreciate you sponsoring us to celebrate their lives together.
