Christian Aid in the Covid-19 lockdown

It’s a worrying time for us all. The world's poorest countries have the weakest health systems. Many of the most vulnerable people are now being exposed to this deadly virus. They’ll struggle to get the healthcare they need, and with the cost of not earning a living while in lockdown or quarantine, they'll be greatly affected.

Our programme work is drawing on our experience in the fight against Ebola, and we are rapidly re-orientating key resources to combat coronavirus alongside people living in poverty. Specific work includes soap and water provision, advocacy to local government, hand-washing training and awareness raising.

Love never fails.

Coronavirus impacts all of us. But love unites us all.

As this virus spreads across the world, love rises up in response.

You’ve already shown incredible kindness to your neighbours.

Now is the time to reach out to your neighbours both near and far.

Your love protects. From storms, from drought, and now from coronavirus.

Your love protects our global neighbours battling the spread of this illness.

Your love protects. With soap, clean water and medical supplies.

You can reach out and protect more of your neighbours today.

Please donate now and save lives.

Churches Together in Wallington and Beddington

Over the past 15 years or so, we have managed to raise an average of £3000 every year during Christian Aid Week by collecting door to door and many other activities. We hope that despite being prevented by Coronavirus from organising the traditional door-to-door collection, we can raise a similar amount through our team members' JustGiving pages.

So, for this year’s Christian Aid Week the public is requested to help by donating online, via bank transfer, by post or telephone, card reading machines and so-called e-Envelopes. During Christian Aid Week there will be live-streamed worship each day and a fun daily quiz to join in and raise funds - you can register for them now to be alerted when the time comes.

Please tell all your family, friends and acquaintances about this page. Watch the Christian Aid Week page for further developments.
