Story
The Aviva Claims Supply Chain Team, will be taking on the Peak District Ultra Challenge in July 2024. The Challenge is a tough event, where each individual will choose to walk, jog, or run either 25, 50, 75 or 100km
We are a Team of 24 people this year, and we will be supporting two amazing charities - Alzheimer's Society and WWF_UK
One of the charities we are supporting is the Alzheimers Society, the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support to people affected by dementia, fund research into finding a cure and improving care, and campaign for change and awareness. Dementia is a condition that affects millions of people in the UK and around the world, and it can have a devastating impact on their lives and those of their loved ones. We have seen how Alzheimer's disease can rob someone of their memory, personality and dignity, and we want to help end this cruel disease.
As well as supporting the Alzheimers Society, we are also proud to be part of Aviva's fundraising campaign for WWF_UK, the world's leading conservation organisation. Severe weather events, flooding and storms that used to be once in a generation are now happening far more frequently, we see the damage and disruption this causes first-hand, so we want to try to help make our communities more resilient. Climate change and its implications for our customers, our families, our communities, and for our natural world, is the one of the biggest challenges facing us all. WWF_UK works to protect the natural environment and the wildlife that depends on it, tackling the root causes of environmental problems, such as climate change, deforestation and overfishing, and promote sustainable solutions for people and nature.
How will your donations will help these Charities?

WWF-UK is on a mission to bring UK nature back to life, working with communities to help transform land, river and seascapes, and the way they are used, to restore vital habitats and species, tackle climate change and produce food sustainably for the benefit of local communities.
£10 could help buy 10 metres of wildflower meadow for priority UK rural landscapes
£20 could help our vital work with partners to conserve threatened iconic UK species
£50 could help buy 2.5 metres of hedgerow for regenerative agriculture
£100 could help support our advocacy work to urgently call on UK governments in setting out their decarbonisation strategies for agriculture and land use around net zero and nature’s recovery

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia in the UK. Dementia refers to a group of symptoms associated with a gradual decline in brain functioning, affecting memory, thinking skills, and other mental abilities.
Approximately 900,000 people in the UK currently live with dementia.
The likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age:
1 in 14 people aged over 65 have dementia.
1 in 6 people aged over 80 are affected by dementia
The Alzheimer’s Society in the UK utilises your donations to make a significant impact in the lives of those affected by dementia, including support services such as access to a Telephone Dementia Adviser, and groundbreaking research.
But we can't do it alone. We need your help to reach our fundraising goal and show our solidarity with both the Alzheimer's community and WWF_UK. By donating to our Team, you will not only support us in our Challenge, but also contribute to a cause that is close to our hearts and crucial for our society and the environment. Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference.
Thank you in advance for your support.
