Story

Hello! We (Hannah, Joanna, Matilda, Cameron and Caleb) are running the Cambridge Half Marathon in memory of our beautiful friend Clarissa. Any donations go directly to Clarissa's Campaign (see more below) in an effort to screen as many young people as possible and prevent further tragedies.

As many of you will know, Clarissa was a keen runner bean herself. She inspired so many of us with her determination, positivity and the way she brought people together and this won’t be the first run we’ve done in her name. This time, though, we’re planning to truly embody her wonderfully silly, fun-loving nature by dressing up as a four man caterpillar 🐛 … so it should definitely be a laugh!

Your support would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate Clarissa in a way she would have absolutely loved 💛💛💛

A bit more about the Campaign:

Clarissa was a French and Italian student at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. In May 2023, Clarissa collapsed and died while hiking in France. She was just 20 years old. A keen and active athlete, often described by her family and friends as a “duracell battery”, Clarissa had no idea she was living with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy — a condition that could have been detected with a simple ECG. It is estimated that 1 in 250 young people are carrying a life threatening condition.

We set up Clarissa’s Campaign to raise awareness and prevent further tragedies by providing free ECG screenings to students. Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of so many, along with the support of CRY and the University Sports Service, we have so far carried out 10 screening days and screened more than 1000 students.
