Story
We have decided to complete this challenge, as it means a great deal to us both, as we sadly lost two of our closest friends to Cancer recently.
We are amateur walkers who love a challenge, but our motivation comes from something much deeper. We are dedicating this walk to the memory of our beloved friends Kate (52) and George (79), both of whom we sadly lost to cancer last year. Their courage, and the outstanding support they received from LOROS Hospice and the Macmillan team, have inspired us to raise funds to support both well-deserved charities.
From Saturday 2nd May to Saturday 16th May 2026, we – Demi Gee (32) and Julie Vine (50), a mother-and-daughter duo from Coalville – will be walking all the way from our home in Coalville to Bournemouth Beach. This challenge will cover around 190 miles in total, up to 18 miles each day over 14 days (including one rest day).
Our route:
We will be walking through towns and villages including Hinckley, Rugby, Daventry, Banbury, Chipping Norton, Witney, Oxford, Wantage, Swindon, Marlborough (where we’ll take our rest day), Pewsey, Salisbury and Ringwood – finishing at Bournemouth Pier on 16th May.
This journey is not only a test of endurance, but also a way to connect communities along the route, share Kate and George’s stories, and raise vital funds for two charities that do such incredible work.
With your support, we can turn every mile of this journey into a meaningful tribute for Kate and George and raise much-needed funds for the incredible work of LOROS and Macmillan.
