On 26 April 2026, Team SSAFA Ayrshire & Arran will be pulling on their walking shoes and taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk — not just for the challenge, but for the people who need us most.

Our team — Colette, Orlaigh, Elaine, Bob and Christie — are walking in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, to help ensure that veterans, serving personnel, and their families across Ayrshire & Arran never face life’s challenges alone.

Why SSAFA?

Behind every service number is a person.

Behind every uniform is a family.

SSAFA has been supporting the Armed Forces community for over 140 years — providing practical, emotional and financial help when it’s needed most. Locally, SSAFA Ayrshire & Arran works quietly but tirelessly to support:

• Veterans of all ages

• Serving personnel

• Families and carers

• Those facing illness, injury, financial hardship, isolation or loss

From help with housing and mobility, to mental health support, benefits advice, and simply having someone there to listen — SSAFA is often the support of last resort when there is nowhere else to turn.

Every step we take on the Kiltwalk represents:

• A family navigating difficult times

• A reminder that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off
