Story

Commentator Challenge - Newmarket trainers’ step into the commentary box for the Henry Cecil Open Weekend. Kindly sponsored by Dr Johnny Hon of Global Group Racing.

On Saturday, 18th September, the first day of the Henry Cecil Open Weekend, racegoers will be treated to exclusive on course commentary at the Rowley Mile. Six Newmarket based trainers, plus our 2020 Virtual Commentator Challenge Champion, have agreed to commit to learning the art of commentating in aid of our chairty - Racing Welfare.

Battling it out for this year’s trophy, the Julian Wilson Award for best commentary, is last year’s winner Danny Archer and some of Newmarket’s finest up and coming trainers – James Ferguson, Ed Crisford, George Boughey, Harry Eustace, Kevin Philippart de Foy, and Tom Clover.

They may be masters of the horse but calling a race is no easy task. Can they master the microphone? Please donate!
