This year Daniella and I will be taking on the "Gold" level Polar Bear Challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. The challenge involves open water swimming throughout winter in just Speedos or swim suit, NO wetsuits allowed! We will be completing a minimum of 1000m / month regardless of weather and temperature.

Both Daniella and I lost our fathers (both brothers) to dementia with my Uncle Brian passing away just this year. There is a ton of research being carried out into the effects, the cold and cold water have on slowing down or even protecting the brain against this horrible disease, so what better way to promote the work of the Alzheimer's Society than putting the effects of cold water to the test.
