Story

John's story

I’m John, and I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a cause that has become very personal. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January 2024. I had no symptoms and no family history but I requested a PSA test at my local surgery as a precaution.

Fortunately, it was caught early. I still have no symptoms and no treatment is needed right now.

I feel incredibly lucky, and that’s exactly why I’m doing this. Too many men don’t get checked until it’s too late. So I’m jogging for the Crown Jewels – mine and everyone else’s – to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.

If a cheeky half marathon can help more men catch it early, it’s worth every sore muscle. Please donate if you can – and if you’re a bloke over 50, maybe book that PSA test too!

Sue's Story

I’m Sue, and I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of my husband, John. He was diagnosed in January 2024 with early-stage prostate cancer, although fortunately, he has no symptoms and no treatment is required yet.

There is no history of prostate cancer in his family and therefore no obvious reason to have a PSA test, but John requested one from our surgery purely as a precaution.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That’s someone’s dad, brother, partner, or mate. So that’s why I’m running - to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Sometimes the signs aren’t obvious and early checks can save lives.

I may not have crown jewels of my own but it doesn’t mean that I don’t realise the importance of every man getting the care they need in time. If you can spare a donation, it’ll mean the world to us both.

And yes – I plan to run faster than him.
