Raising money for Shooting Star Children's Hospices and BrightPIP

Story

Supporting charities is a staple part of our business and each year, colleagues from across Barratt Redrow Southern Counties dedicate their efforts to raising much needed funds for a particular cause. This year we have chosen two charities to support - BrightPiP and Christopher’s Hospice (Shooting Star Children’s Hospices).

For my part and in less than 10-days (gulp…!), I will be taking on the London to Paris Cycle. 335 miles (540km) over 4-days. And for those who were wondering, no, I am not on an eBike… self-propulsion all the way!

100% of the money raised will go to these two wonderful charities (split 50/50). Your donation, however big or small will not only help to spur me on when the going gets tough but more importantly, will make a significant difference to the families in need of support.

BrightPip is a charity based in Brighton and Hove which aims to change the future of vulnerable babies, one baby at a time. Their mission is to intervene at the earliest time with families to support parents to have positive relationships with their children. They intend to ensure parent-infant psychological therapy (PIP) is freely available to all families in Brighton and Hove who need it. They work with mums and dads/non-birthing partners, together or individually.

They work with babies up until 3 years of age and are currently working with around 150 families. They are a small team of around fifteen employees which includes qualified clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, and Trustees, who are working around the clock trying to support families who need their help. Unfortunately, they are having to turn families away because they just do not have the resources to see everyone.

Christopher’s Children’s Hospice provides respite and end-of-life care for children who are terminally ill and their families. My words will not do justice to the care, compassion and support this charity offers families. Instead, I invite you to watch this powerful and moving video from one family the charity has supported during their darkest hour
