Story
The Black @ Depop ERG are raising funds for The British Red Cross Disaster relief fund to help the thousands of people affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and across the Caribbean.
When disaster strikes, the British Red Cross Disaster relief rely on the Disaster Fund to launch an emergency response and get critical help to people impacted as soon as possible.
From earthquakes, floods and hurricanes, natural disasters caused by climate change are devastating the lives of hundreds of millions of people worldwide. That number is only rising. By 2030, it’s predicted that we’ll see 560 emergencies a year – that’s 1.5 every day.
Right now, torrential rain and powerful winds from Hurricane Melissa threaten hundreds of thousands of people in the central Caribbean. The National Red Cross Societies in Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are already on the ground providing support to the communities most at risk in the form of preparedness and early response measures.
