Event: Big Walk 2022, on 24 June 2022
The Big Walk 2022 is back and better than ever! Returning on Friday 24th June, walkers will be fundraising to give hope to families living with the ongoing challenges of a genetic disease.

Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.

On Friday 24th June, four of us from the Digital Learning Team will be taking part in the Big Walk 2022 in support of Genetic Disease Research at the University of Sheffield.

Any donations are appreciated to help reach our fundraising goal of £600!

Two of us are going the shorter, but still challenging, 30km route, starting from Edale, summiting Win Hill, winding down paths across Ladybower, battling a sea of heather at Bamford Edge, before the long descent into Sheffield which finishes at the University for a celebration. Meanwhile, the other two in our team are doing the 50km route which adds on the tallest summit in the Peak District, Mam Tor! Their route begins at Hope and will join onto the 50km route resulting in an epic and especially challenging route. The amount of ascent in the 50km route is 1455m, that's like walking up the Arts tower more than 18 times!

But why are we doing this? In the UK alone, 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. Sheffield's research will change the lives of families who are desperately seeking a treatment for their loved-one. By making a donation today you will give hope to families living with the ongoing challenges of a genetic disease.
