Set yourself an exciting new challenge and hike a full or half marathon along the iconic Rob Roy trail to raise vital funds for people living with cancer.

Story

Hi 👋

In August 2025, we have challenged ourselves to take on the Rob Roy Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer.

(I will leave out the horrendous parts, I just want to give you a background to what our mum went through)

Our mum (Dianne Drummond), who was a loving mother, devoted wife, mother in law and an amazing Granny, was diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2 breast cancer in late July 2024,

After the initial shock, the family and the doctors were quite confident that this was treatable,

After contracting sepsis in October 2024 (following the first chemo treatment), the doctors were concerned with some CT scans,

In January 2025, after almost daily trips to the hospital for tests/procedures, mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the esophagus, which had spread to the lung. We understood that it was palliative care moving forward, referred to the specialists at the Beatson.

In early February, less than one week after having a stent fitted in the esophagus, mum was rushed to the hospital, after an overnight stay and some scans, sadly, the breast cancer returned, which caused internal bleeding that could not be stopped.

After 6 grueling days by mums side, alongside our family and close friends, mum passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, with a nice song playing in the background,

Mum is now in her final resting place.

We'd be so grateful if you could help me reach our £500 pledge, which can pay for a Macmillan Nurse for two days. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.

Thank you!
