Story
We are a small supported living home. We are a staff team of five and we support three adults with learning disabilities. We are all doing this charity challenge as a team of 8 both staff and those we support.
Last year during lockdown we decided to raise money for charities linked to the NHS, we did this jointly by walking a marathon. We set ourselves a target of £500 but managed to beat this and raised a total of £580.
This year we aim to raise money to help our local Heart of Kent Hospice by Jointly do a virtual 874 mile trek the equivalent of walking Lands End to John O Groats. We are doing this during the month of May. Due to us being a care home we are doing this in a fun way so we can all get involved and the people we support and staff team are mapping our progress when we walk, run or cross train at the gym to meet our mile/money target.
We between the 8 of us, are going to do over a marathon a day for 31days.
This is a much greater challenge, with much more effort and planning by us, we are going more than the extra mile this year as a team. We would love to beat last years target and would be grateful for your support in helping us achieve this.
The heart of Kent hospice has found it difficult , like us all during the Covid pandemic, so we are going that extra mile for the Heart of Kent Hospice in their 30 year anniversary year so that they can continue to provide compassionate end of life care.
Please help us to help them, in the work they do, to provide great and well needed care and help us raise money for them during these difficult times.
The team members taking part are Terri Shea, Michael Bailey, Lynn Goody, Rasa Venckute, Paul Metters, Craig Smith, Richard Chaney, Paul Dye.
Thank you
