In Memory Dr David William Hughes (1949-2025)

We have created this JustGiving page as a way for people donate in memory of Dr David Hughes who died on 17th May 2025 from prostate cancer after along period of illness. David actively supported these two organisations which were very close to his heart: the RNLI, and the Queen's University Belfast Prostate Cancer Centre of Excellence.

Queen's University Belfast Prostate Cancer Centre of Excellence

The team at Queen's University Belfast Prostate Cancer Centre of Excellence, led by oncologist Prof. Joe O'Sullivan conduct research that is working to advance our understanding of prostate cancer, in particular the type that can cause death, and finding improved ways to prevent, detect, and treat prostate cancers.

RNLI

David was a lifelong supporter of the RNLI and frequently visited stations to show support and view the different types of vessels used. Donaghadee RNLI was a favourite close to home, with the walk down the pier to the lighthouse.
